AES Introduces New IntelliNet Internet Metering System

January 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

AES Corp. (Peabody, MA) introduced the AES-IntelliNet real-time Internet Metering system, which captures 15-minute intervals of electric, gas or water-meter data and displays it on the Internet before the close of the next interval. Data is posted 96 times a day and is used to manage peak energy, trading on the stock market, TOU tariffs, remote optimization of energy use and power quality in real time.

The system uses two-way AES-IntelliNet wireless routers to move data from meters to the Internet without using the public cellular or copper telephone lines. Real-time metering can be deployed in any metro area. Data can be shared simultaneously with partners in the C and I energy supply chain and for demand management.
