AEP Communications and Cutler-Hammer Enter Alliance Agreement

March 05, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

AEP Communications LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Electric Power (Columbus, OH), and Cutler-Hammer, a business unit of Eaton Corp. (Cleveland, OH) recently announced they have entered into an alliance agreement to market and sell energy management, profiling, and billing products and services. According to the companies, the alliance provides multi-tenant building owners with on-site usage monitoring, remote usage readings and an electronic accounts receivable file to allocate energy costs for each tenant unit. The alliance integrates AEP Communications' Datapult portfolio of energy information services with Cutler-Hammer's family of power-measurement products.

"We are excited about this alliance between two leading energy-management solution providers," said Peter R. Thomas, vice president of AEP Communications. "Our alliance will provide users with a powerful tenant allocation and billing service. We can effectively monitor and allocate energy usage for master-metered, multi-tenant properties that are currently utilizing less precise methods. This can significantly reduce energy costs for property owners and tenants."
