AEC-Q200 PPTC Resettable Fuses with Higher Ihold and Vmax Ratings

September 09, 2019 by Paul Shepard

Bourns has announced the expansion of high working temperature model families MF-PSHT, MF-NSHT and MF-USHT surface mount polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuses in the Multifuse product line. These series include three sizes of SMD products in EIA 0805, 1206 and 1210.

The 0805 size MF-PSHT model family has Vmax as high as 16Vdc and Imax as high as 40A withhold current ratings from 0.05A to 0.5A. The 1206 size MF-NSHT model family has Vmax as high as 30Vdc and Imax as high as 40A with hold current ratings from 0.1A to 0.75A. The 1210 size MF-USHT model family has Vmax as high as 30Vdc and Imax as high as 40A with hold current rating from 0.1A to 1.5A.

Typical Applications

  • Overcurrent surge protection of electronic equipment required to operate at high operating temperature ranges
  • Resettable fault protection of general electronic equipment
  • Protection of automotive circuitry including engine control modules
  • Battery management system
  • Head unit control
  • Ignition relay
  • Side mirrors
  • Encoders

The addition of these new HT models provides a broader standard high-temperature PTC offering to customers with high working temperature requirements – particularly seen in automotive and industrial applications. Moreover, the new MF-PSHT, MF-NSHT and MF-USHT model families utilize Bourns’ innovative freeXpansion™ design that increases the performance of the resettable fuse with:

  • Higher hold current ratings (Ihold)
  • Higher maximum voltage ratings (Vmax)
  • Improved resistance stability
  • Smaller footprints
