AEC-Q200, 0.33µH to 75.0µH Inductor in 4040 Case Handles 36A

January 24, 2019 by Scott McMahan

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduced a new automotive-grade IHLP® high-current and low-profile inductor in a 4040 case size with an increased profile of 5.4mm. The inductor, the Dale IHLP-4040ED-5A, offers a reduced DCR, higher inductance, increased current handling, and a high operating temperature range of up to 155°C. The device is suited for under-the-hood, automotive applications.

The AEC-Q200-qualified inductor features high efficiency with typical DCR from 1.05 mΩ to 204.0 mΩ and offers a wide range of inductance values from 0.33µH to 75. µH. The device handels rated current to 36A and handles high transient current spikes without saturation.

The company optimized the IHLP-4040ED-5A for energy storage in dc-dc converters with frequencies up to 2MHz. According to Vishay, it also provides outstanding attenuation of noise in high current-filtering applications up to the SRF of the inductor.

With its high operating temperature, Vishay designed the inductor for filtering and dc-dc conversion in engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, entertainment or navigation systems, in addition to noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, power mirrors and seats, HID and LED lighting, and heating and ventilation blowers.

Packaged in a 100 % lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction that decreases buzz to ultra-low levels, the inductor offers high resistance to thermal and mechanical shock, as well as moisture. The IHLP-4040ED-5A is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
