AEC-Q101 High-Speed Switching Diodes and Transistors Operate to 175°C

July 05, 2019 by Scott McMahan

Nexperia announced that key components in its SOT23-packaged family of high-performance, switching diodes and general-purpose transistors are now fully-specified to operate at up to 175°C degrees. High-speed switching diodes BAS16/21 and BC807/817 general purpose transistors are included in the range.

The 175°C SOT23 devices also have a 25% higher Ptot (total power dissipation) than basic 150°C rated parts. This higher Ptot enables a high-temperature design for under-the-hood applications including gearboxes and motor drives, as well as LED lighting and additional industrial uses. The parts are qualified according to AEC-Q101 for high automotive reliability.

"Nexperia is first to market with a 175°C portfolio of small-signal diodes and transistors in SOT23 further expanding the range of options designers have for high-temperature circuits. This is fitting since this year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the SOT23 package, invented - as Philips - by Nexperia. We still innovate and lead this market, shipping more than 30 billion devices annually, and remain committed to the important SOT23 business," said Mark Roeloffzen, Vice President & General Manager of Nexperia's Bipolar Discretes Business Group.

With these latest releases, Nexperia says its portfolio of 175°C diodes and transistors now covers all performance classes up to 15A. The family of 175°C products are available in packages ranging from leadless DFN to leaded SMD as well as clipbond FlatPower (CFP) and LFPAK packages.
