AEC-Q100 Compliant Voltage Regulator with 0.8μA Quiescent Current

January 14, 2020 by Paul Shepard

Torex Semiconductor Ltd. has launched the XCL6506 series of AEC-Q100 (Grade2) compliant, 0.8μA ultra-low quiescent current voltage regulator. It is designed for use in automotive applications such as ECUs, audio equipment, navigation systems, and so on.

The XD6506 series are positive voltage LDO regulators manufactured using CMOS processes. The series consists of a reference voltage source, an error amplifier, a current fold-back circuit, and a phase compensation circuit plus a driver transistor.

The series is compatible with low ESR ceramic capacitors, which give added output stability. The current limiter's fold-back circuit also operates as a short protect for the output current limiter and the output pin.

Furthermore, the CE function allows the output of the regulator to be turned off, resulting in greatly reduced power consumption.
