Absopulse Electronics Presents BCH500 Battery Charger

February 14, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics (Carp, ON) announced its new 500W single-output battery charger, the BCH500, which can be customized to deliver output voltages to 125V. Suitable for telecom and high-grade industrial applications, the BCH500 is available as either a stand-alone battery charger (115Vac/230Vac or 220Vdc/280Vdc input), or may be incorporated into an uninterruptible power supply system. The unit is highly regulated, and can also operate as a basic power supply.

The BCH500 battery charger is designed for charging gel-cell and sealed lead-acid batteries. The charging characteristics and the unit's various built-in protection circuits prolong battery life and eliminate possible operator error. Features include reverse battery protection, inrush current limiting, over-voltage protection, current limiting with short-circuit protection and a self-resetting thermostat for thermal protection. An optional equalization circuit ensures the battery is always charged to full capacity.

The BCH500 meets the requirements for the major international safety regulations, as well as those for EN55022 Class A electromagnetic interference emissions. It is convection-cooled and rated for operation over 0 to +50 degrees C.

The BCH500 is priced at $352 each in 100-piece quantities.
