Absopulse Debuts New UPS 12/7AH System

February 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario, Canada) announced its new uninterruptible power supply (UPS) 12/7AH, which is an on-line, single-output, compact dc UPS system that delivers 13.6 Vdc at 3 A from a universal ac-input while float-charging a battery. The system is intended for low-power, low-noise applications, including radios, electronic access systems, process controls, computers and emergency lighting.

During normal operation, the UPS 12/7AH serves as a power conditioner, blocking surges, spikes and transients while maintaining stable voltage and float-charging the built-in 7 Ah gel-cell battery. If ac power fails, the battery powers the load. A low-voltage disconnect circuit prevents battery damage if the voltage drops below 10.5 V during prolonged ac failure. Line-and-load regulation are ±2 percent combined from zero load to full load; maximum ripple is 120 mV peak-to-peak (without battery), and the unit meets the requirements for EN55022 Class B EMI emissions. It is also designed to meet international safety approval standards such as IEC950.

The UPS 12/7AH is housed in a stainless-steel case measuring 6.2 in x 10 in x 2.8 in, and is wall-mountable via mounting flanges. It is convection/conduction cooled via the chassis, and is rated for operation over 0 °C to 50 °C. The unit is priced at $234 at quantities of one to four.
