AAB Offers New Automotive Battery Industry Report

April 30, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Automotive Batteries (AAB, Oregon House, CA) announced the publication of its new Advanced Automotive Battery Industry Report. The second-edition report focuses on the most recent technology and market trends, is based on site interviews with over 50 leading companies in the field, and has recently been updated with the latest marketing plans of automakers and a review of the technological progress, marketing status and potential of battery suppliers. The report also provides insight into the future of advanced vehicles.

"We were expecting Japanese battery makers to take advantage of their strong position in nickel-metal hydride and lithium-ion chemistry, popular in cellular phones and hand-held computers, and exploit the application of these chemistries in the advanced vehicle market," noted Menahem Anderman, the report's author. "However, the Japanese are also moving ahead with the application of lead-acid battery chemistries; technologies where US and European producers historically held strong positions."
