6V Low-Resistance Surface-Mount PPTC Resettable Fuses

January 22, 2020 by Paul Shepard

Bourns has expanded its MF-ASML/X series of low resistance surface mount Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuses. The new models include Ihold current ratings of 0.10A and 0.20A at 6V maximum rated voltage.

Bourns' proprietary low resistance conductive materials used in these two new models have post trip resistance values as low as 1.6 ohms and initial resistance values as low as 0.1 ohms. Such low resistance values help boost the current carrying capability of the devices. The expanded MF-ASML/X model family can now achieve a low 0.1A Ihold at 6Vdc in a tiny 0402 package (Model MF-ASML010/6-2).

The tiny MF-ASML/X model family utilizes Bourns' innovative freeXpansion™ design that increases the performance of the resettable fuse with higher hold currents (Ihold), higher voltages (Vmax), improved resistance stability, and smaller footprints.

The primary applications for these products include wearables, Li-ion battery packs, motherboards, and portable consumer electronic I/O port protection. These devices have been designed to protect against both overcurrent and overtemperature events within the products' designated specifications.
