600W, 270Vin or 28Vin VITA 62 Power Supplies for VPX Modules

February 21, 2019 by Scott McMahan

Vicor has introduced a line of VITA 62 power supplies that is a MIL-COTS power supply. The company designed these power supplies for 3U Open VPX systems. The modules utilize Vicor's proprietary technology to enable high efficiency and power density for these highly rugged, conduction-cooled models.

Typical applications of the power supplies include VPX power modules, avionics, and shipborne electronics.

Up to four power supplies can be paralleled to increase output power capability of VS1, VS2, VS3 outputs with proprietary wireless current sharing. Conventional current-share pins are eliminated. Current share accuracy is ±1A.

The module variants all offer 600W of output power, but they have either a 28V nominal input or a 270V nominal input depending on the model.  They all feature 6 outputs and have remote voltage sense VS1, VS2, VS3. The devices are IPC 610 class 3 and use no aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The devices are parallel operation capable with proprietary wireless current sharing. The offer over-current, over-voltage, and over-temperature protections and feature enable, inhibit, system reset, and power-fail controls.

The VIT028wxx600yzzz variants are compliant with military standards: MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-1275D Normal Surges and Spikes, and RTCA/DO-160G, and their compliance to MIL-STD-704F is pending.

The VIT270wxx600yzzz variants are compliant with military standards: MIL-STD-704F, MIL-STD-461F, and MIL-STD-810G.

Features of both VIT028wxx600yzzz and VIT270wxx600yzzz include:
