37A Inductor for Multi-Phase High-Current Power Supplies

Vishay Intertechnology expands its IHSR series of high-saturation commercial inductors with a new 37A device in a 4mm by 4mm 1616 case with a low 1.2mm profile. The company designed the new inductor for multi-phase, high-current power supplies and filters in computer, telecom, and industrial applications.

Additional applications for the inductor include notebook, desktop, and server applications; energy storage in dc-dc converters and high current filtering; ADAS processors up to 5MHz; low profile, high current power supplies and filters; and high-current input/output filters — up to SRF of the inductor. Vishay says that the inductor offers excellent dc-dc energy storage up to 5MHz.

The Vishay Dale IHSR-1616AB-01 boasts a 50% reduction in typical DCR, compared to typical power inductors and has a standard DCR tolerance of 5%, with 3% tolerance available for more accurate current sensing.  The device's low typical DCR is down to 1.15mΩ.  It features an inductance up to 0.068µH and has a frequency range up to 5MHz.

The inductor allows high-temperature operation up to +125°C and has a saturation current to 62A. It handles high transient current spikes without saturation. The device is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green. A 100% lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels. Its packaging offers high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical shock.
