3.5A, 50Vdc Motor Driver Powers Brushed Motors Operates with Inputs from 4.5V to 44V

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation launched TB67H450FNG, the latest addition to its portfolio of brushed DC motor driver ICs. (See block diagram above). The new product, which features a maximum rating of 50V/3.5A, drives motors with a wide range of operating voltage. It comes in a small HSOP8 surface mount package with a popular pin-assignment that increases the product sourcing flexibility. Mass production starts today.

TB67H450FNG also has 3.5A current driving capability that can be used in applications such as home appliances including robot vacuum cleaners; industrial equipment including OA equipment and banking terminals; battery powered devices ( such as electronic locks and small household robots); and devices using 5V USB power supplies.

The TB67H450FNG is a pwm chopper type DC brushed motor driver. It embeds one channel of motor output block. Toshiba fabricated the motor driver with the BiCD process.

The new IC can drive brushed motors with a power supply ranging from 4.5V to 44V. It supports applications that include USB powered, battery powered, and industrial 12V to 36V devices.

Toshiba optimized its standby current consumption with a new power supply circuit that lets the stop mode move into standby mode automatically and turn off the VCC regulator for internal circuit operation. This automatic move into standby mode can help cut energy consumption and improve the battery life of battery powered devices.

In a small surface-mount type HSOP8 pin package, the IC achieves space savings and good heat dissipation via the thermal pad design of the package.
