2X MOPP Four-Slot Case and Hold-up Module for Configurable AC-DC Power Supplies

Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the company's latest four-slot case and new hold-up module (above left) for its second generation MicroMP (µMP) series configurable ac-dc power supplies. Designated µMP09, the new enclosure (above right) supports a maximum power output of 550W at 85Vac to 180Vac and 1100W and 80Vac to 263Vac.

Artesyn designed the new hold-up module for high-reliability applications. The hold-up module enables the supply to continue providing power for some time if the input power is interrupted. Typical applications and uses for the µMP09 case include general industrial use, medical and laboratory equipment, test and measurement systems, telecommunications equipment, production and process control equipment, military and aerospace systems, data storage, burn-in systems, and gaming systems

Measuring just 256.9mm x 88.9mm x 40.0mm (10.11in x 3.5in x 1.57in) the μMP09 case can be configured using Artesyn's family of highly efficient, digitally controlled power modules certified to service a diverse range of applications including industrial, medical, test and measurement, telecoms, process control, as well as military and aerospace systems.

According to Artesyn, the company designed the µMP09 to ensure high efficiency and reliability even in extreme environmental conditions. For this reason, the µMP09 is rated for performance at temperatures from -40°C to 70°C.

It can withstand a shock of more than 50G and meets the MIL-STD-810G specification for vibration. The calculated mean time between failures is more than 350,000 hours at full load. Optional conformal coating is also available.

The power supply is fully approved to UL ES60601-1 medical safety standards and to the third edition of the EN60601-1. It offers 2X Means of Patient Protection (2XMOPP), and can be used in non-patient contact and non-patient critical equipment.

Hold-Up Module

Artesyn designed the new hold-up module for the μMP systems to sustain electronic system operation during extended input bus drop-out scenarios. This capability can be vital in industrial, military and aerospace applications.

The module is designed to enable compliance with the SEMI F47 specification, an industry standard for voltage sag immunity, which dictates that industrial equipment must tolerate voltage sags, or dips, on the ac mains supply to specific depths and durations.

While it is a critical necessity for many semiconductor processing applications, many other industries use SEMI F47 to set criteria for the reliability and productivity of their equipment.

Artesyn Configurable Power Supplies

Artesyn says its ConfigPro™ online power supply configurator helps customers find the optimal solution from the over three million combinations enabled by the company's range of configurable power supplies. The company says that the ConfigPro tool makes it easier to specify and use configurable power supplies and can, in many cases, eliminate the need for expensive custom solutions.

Artesyn's intuitive GUI-based control software, which can be used with Artesyn's configurable power supplies, provides users with superior flexibility.

The control software enables real-time monitoring of input voltage, current, and temperature.

µMP Series Configurable Power Supplies

Artesyn offers in the 750W to 5,000W range with the MP, iMP, and iVS series, the new µMP (microMP) series that focuses on the lower power range (400W - 1,800W), higher density 1U, high-type power solutions.

The new μMP series rivals the cost of non-configurable power supplies while providing market-leading density, efficiency, reliability and agency approvals.
