2003 Solar Home Tour Comes to Northern California

September 15, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

The Northern California Solar Energy Association (NorCal Solar) announced that it will sponsor its annual tour of solar homes in Monterey County, the greater Bay Area, and Sonoma and Humboldt Counties on Saturday, October 4, 2003. The event is part of a national effort sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society to coordinate tours in more than 400 communities across the nation on that same day.

Featuring a range of designs, prices and solar applications, each local tour will showcase different building materials, technologies and techniques. Consumers can personally experience different systems, ask questions, and get tips from homeowners and experts about the economical comfort of solar living. Self-guided home tours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in a dozen cities and counties throughout Northern California on October 4.

Attendees receive a tour map, a booklet featuring facts and photographs of each home, and a 56-page Solar Energy Resource Guide. Solar vendor information will be available at tour registration sites. Admission is $15 per group for one to five people, with early registrants and NorCal Solar members receiving a $5 discount. All contributions are tax-deductible.
