Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. added 15 new 1 A, 2 A, and 3 A devices to its offering of surface-mount TMBS® Trench MOS Barrier Schottky rectifiers The new devices in the eSMP® series feature a low profile SMF (DO-219AB) package. Providing space-saving alternatives to Schottky rectifiers in the SMA package, these Vishay General Semiconductor devices have reverse voltages from 45V to 150V, and Vishay claims their 3A rating is the industry’s highest for the SMF package.
Applications for include high-frequency inverters, dc-dc converters, and freewheeling and polarity protection diodes for commercial and industrial applications. AEC-Q101-qualified versions of the Schottky diode rectifiers are also available for automotive applications.
Schottky rectifiers with current ratings up to 3A typically come in the SMA package. The newly released devices increase power density by delivering this high forward current in the smaller SMF. The package measures 3.7mm by 1.8mm with a low 0.98mm profile, and it has 46% thinner profile than the SMA and takes up 49 % less board space.
With their forward voltage drop down to 0.36V for 1A, 0.40V for 2A, and 0.43V for 3A devices, the rectifiers lessen power loss and improve efficiency in high-frequency inverters, dc-dc converters, and freewheeling and polarity protection diodes for commercial and industrial applications.
The new rectifiers have a maximum operating junction temperature up to +175 °C and an MSL moisture sensitivity level of 1, per J-STD-020. They have an LF maximum peak of +260 °C. The oHS-compliant and halogen-free devices are ideal for automated placement.
The 1A, 2A, and 3A devices have a VRRM ranging from 45V up to 150V. The 1A models have a Vf ranging from 0.36V to 0.64V. The 2A rectfiers have Vfs ranging range 0.36V to 0.64V, and the 3A models feature Vfs from 0.43V to 0.66V.
Samples and production quantities of the new TMBS rectifiers are available now, with lead times of 12 weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery begins at $0.04 per piece for 1 A devices, $0.05 per piece for 2 A devices, and $0.06 per piece for 3 A devices.
