16A Appliance Outlets with Integrated Light Pipes

October 09, 2018 by Paul Shepard

The new 16A appliance outlets of the 4710-5 series from Schurter have precisely fitting, integrated guides for light pipes. Up to four optionally available light pipes can be used via LEDs on the circuit board. They provide the responsible technician with exactly the information he or she wants.

The operation of the LEDs is freely configurable. To prevent damage, the light pipes must be ordered as necessary accessories and should only be inserted into the power distribution unit after the sockets have been wired.

The use of IDC connections is particularly efficient. Thanks to them, several outlets can be wired quickly and reliably in a single step. This highly efficient form of wiring offers a significant time and cost reduction.

For individual power supply and status indication, the phase contact is designed as a PCB connection. On request, these can also be configured as plug-in or solder connections. To ensure an even better optical differentiation of the individual outlets, Schurter offers them in black, white and grey.

The 4710-5 series is available in two versions: "along" and "cross". Depending on the design of the PDU and the arrangement of the outlets, it makes sense to place several outlets vertically (along) or horizontally (cross) one behind the other. The orientation of the connections is then also in accordance with this orientation.

To avoid unintentionally pulling out the wrong cable, the new sockets offer the V-Lock cord retention system. The snap-on mounting of the 4710-5 is designed for panel thicknesses of 1.0 to 3.0 mm. Standard versions are available in 1.5 and 2.0 mm.
