260W Non-Isolated Buck Point-of-Load Modules Deliver Full Power to +105°C
Gaia Converter unveiled it's first point-of-load converter, the MPGS-14A. The MPGS-14A point-of-load converter series designates a family of non-isolated buck point of load (PoL) power modules with a permanent input voltage range of 4.75Vdc to 33Vdc. Gaia designed the family for use in local voltage conversion, and it can be used alone or in conjunction with isolated dc-dc converters as part of a highly efficient, distributed power system.
The company optimized the series for low-voltage point-of-load applications. The load converter features adjustable output from 1.2Vdc to 24Vdc with high-efficiency synchronous rectification and transient up to 42Vdc/100ms targeting defense and airborne applications.
The modules include an adjustable soft-start, an input under-voltage lock-out, a permanent short circuit, as well as overload protection and over-temperature protection. The soft-start allows current limitation and eliminates inrush current during startup. The short circuit protection completely protects the modules against short-circuits of any duration by a shut-down and restores to normal when the overload is removed.
Potted with a bi-component thermal conductive compound, the module ensures optimum power dissipation under harsh environmental conditions.
The MPGD-14A power module can be used either stand-alone directly in front of a battery bus or in conjunction with isolated dc-dc converters as a local power conversion point in a highly efficient and distributed power system.
Packaged in a 1in x 0.075in housing, the MPGS-14A can provide up to 14A/260W current/power over a temperature range of -55°C to +105°C and rugged military and airborne environmental conditions.
