100V and 150V Trench SBDs with Lower Reverse Currents

January 30, 2017 by Jeff Shepard

Sanken Electric has added the FMET Series of trench structure Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) with low reverse current (IR) For the 100V/30A device, IR is 80% lower compared to the conventional devices. Its low IR characteristic helps control heat generation, which allows use of more compact heat sinks and PCB boards. This contributes to creating a lower-cost power supply. The product reduces the risk of thermal runaway in high temperature operation, improving power supply reliability. Also, switching noise is reduced, which is effective in noise reduction of high current applications.

The lineup includes 8 products with voltage ratings of 100V and 150V and current ratings from 10A to 40A. Applications are expected to include dc-dc converters, off-line ac-dc power supplies and power adapters. All these SBDs are packaged in a TO220F-3L configuration.

The 100V devices include: FMET-21510 rated for 15A with a Vf of 0.85V and an IR of 0.05mA; FMET-22010 rated for 20A with a Vf of 0.85V and an IR of 0.07mA; FMET-23010 rated for 30A with a Vf of 0.85V and an IR of 0.1mA; and the FMET-24010 rated for 40A with a Vf of 0.85V and an IR of 0.15mA.

The 150V devices include: the FMET-21015 rated for 10A with a Vf of 0.98V and an IR of 0.05mA; FMET-21515 rated for 15A with a Vf of 0.98V and an IR of 0.07mA; FMET-22015 rated for 20A with a Vf of 0.989V and an IR of 0.1mA; and the FMET-023015 rated for 30A with a Vf of 0.98V and an IR of 0.15mA.
