100V/200V Ultrafast Rectifiers in DO-220AA Package Rated up to 2A

June 01, 2019 by Scott McMahan

Vishay expanded its offering of FRED Pt® Ultrafast recovery rectifiers with eight new 100V and 200V devices in the eSMP® series SMP (DO-220AA) package, including the industry's first to offer current ratings to 2A. These rectifiers feature recovery times down to 14ns, reduced Qrr to 10nC, and soft recovery features over the entire working temperature range of -55°C to +175°C.

Applications for these ultrafast rectifiers are expected to include high-frequency inverters, freewheeling diodes, dc-dc converters, telecom, and industrial power supplies as well as power factor correction in automotive engine control units (ECU), anti-lock braking systems (ABS), and HID and LED lighting

These ultrafast rectifiers measure 3.85mm by 2.03mm with a low 1mm profile. Vishay designed the rectifiers to offer space-savings and provide higher power density alternatives to devices in the SMA (DO-214AC). Providing the high current ratings typically reserved for the SMA (DO-214AC) package in the smaller SMP, which needs 24% less PCB space, increases power density. Low forward voltage drop reduces power losses and improves efficiency.

For excellent thermal performance, the recovery rectifiers feature asymmetric design and have a large metal pad for heat dissipation.

These ultrafast recovery rectifiers are suitable for automated placement, and they allow for automated optical inspection (AOI) in automotive systems The devices offer ultrafast recovery times down to 14ns, reduced Qrr to 10nC, and have soft recovery features over the entire working temperature range of -55°C to +175°C. The RoHS-compliant and halogen-free recovery rectifiers have an MSL moisture sensitivity level of 1 and per J-STD-020, an LF maximum peak of +260°C.
