Zetex Intros ZHCS400 High-Current Schottky Diode

August 22, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Zetex Inc. (Commack, NY) introduced the new ZHCS400 high-current Schottky diode in the miniature SOD323 surface-mount package. The new diode will support a continuous forward current of 400mA for a typical forward voltage of 425mV. The new SuperBat device is claimed to offer a PCB space saving of 70 percent when compared with the SOT23 package. Zetex is rating the new diode's current performance under three conditions, continuous, average and pulsed, to aid circuit designers. These ratings are 400mA, 1.0A and 6.75A, respectively. The ZHCS400's forward voltage attributes are claimed to enable the Schottky diode to enhance overall circuit efficiency. Power dissipation at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees C is 250mW. Vf is 270mV at 50mA and 440mV at 500mA. The Schottky has a reverse recovery time of 10nS when switched from If of 500mA to Ir of 500mA. Reverse leakage current is 15uA at a reverse voltage of 30V, and reverse breakdown voltage is 40V for a reverse current of 200uA. The device is priced at $0.14 each in quantities of 10,000.
