Yuasa Announces Increased Capacity of PL-150 PowerLock Battery

July 04, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Yuasa Inc. (Reading, PA) announced it has increased the capacity of its popular industrial front termination PowerLock battery to 150Ah within the same footprint. The new battery, which is claimed to offer the highest energy density available in its size, is intended for distributed power, wireless, PBX, CATV and other telecom applications where space is limited and high power essential.

The Independence PL-150 PowerLock battery is designed to provide a 48V system on a single shelf of a standard 23 rack, to maximize capacity and minimize height restrictions. The new battery now allows users to reconfigure a system with a 750 Ah capacity rating in one 7-foot relay rack. The PL-150 now has integrated handles for easier installation or removal and a patent-pending dual terminal design offering a choice of either front termination or top termination. Initial battery capacity is rated at 100 percent. The PL-150 has a long-life Pb/Ca/Sn alloy grid. Its 2 x 3 cell layout is claimed to provide improved thermal management. Its flame-retardant container/cover meets UL94 VO, LOI 28 percent standards and it features Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Technology to deliver optimum power density. The battery measures 21.35 deep x 5.0wide and 12 high. The PL battery is also available in 110Ah rating. Pricing for the PL-150 VRLA batteries begins at $540 per unit.
