XP Power Releases 175W AC-DC Power Supply Communications & Industrial Applications

December 07, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

XP Power announced the availability of its CLC175 single output, open frame ac-dc power supply. Rated at 175W this low cost compact unit, measuring just 3 x 5 x 1.25" (76.2 x 127 x 31.8mm), fits into a standard 1U space and offers a power density of 9.3W per cubic inch.

According to the company, resonant topology converter techniques used in the design contribute to make the CLC175 highly efficient, typically 87%, and gives it a very flat efficiency curve. This approach is also said to result in an improved EMI performance as well as low ripple and noise. Only 10 CFM of forced airflow is required for the power supply to achieve its full power output. No external voltage source is required to power an external fan since the unit includes a standard 12Vdc, 0.5A fan output.

The CLC175 is available with output voltages of 12, 24 or 48Vdc, from a universal input of 85-264Vac. Remote sense is included as standard to compensate for up to a 0.5Vdc total voltage drop in the end-system. No additional external components are required for the unit to meet Class B conducted EMC limits saving both cost and space. The units operate from 0 to +70°C, with full power available up to +50°C. An options package can be specified, suffix A, to include power OK, remote on/off and 5V standby.

The CLC175 is priced at $93.60 in OEM quantities.
