Xantrex Intros XPR Series DC Power Supplies

July 31, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Xantrex Technology Inc. (Burnaby, BC) introduced its new XPR Series of 6kW programmable dc power supplies with power-factor correction. The new power supplies are suitable for bulk power applications, such as burn-in, electroplating, battery charging and steering magnets. The XPR Series features zero-voltage soft-switching, power-factor correction, remote sense with 5V line-loss compensation, automatic voltage/current mode crossover, auxiliary status lines for monitoring power supply conditions, remote interlock, dimensions of 132.5mm x 482.6mm x 463.0mm and a weight of 34kg.

Analog control comes standard with the XPR Series for resistive or voltage programming of the output voltage and current limits. Models can be upgraded to an isolated version with the ISOL option. The series has a straightforward front panel, featuring a seven-segment LED display with several status and alarm indicators, and 10-turn knobs for voltage and current control. The front panel buttons allow users to set and view the over-voltage protection set points, view the output voltage and current limits, enable output shutdown, and offers the flexibility of toggling control of the power supply between the front panel and remote analog control.

The XPR Series is UL, CSA and CE certified. It is available now in 10 models and can be purchased worldwide for $3,895 with a five-year warranty.
