The G3-PLC Certification Program covers conformance, performance and interoperability testing. Products that have been awarded with the G3-PLC Certificate are conforming to the G3-PLC specifications, fulfilling defined performance requirements and are interoperable with other G3-PLC certified devices. The certification process opened September 1st for chipsets and covers Cenelec A, ARIB (Japan Route B) as well as FCC bandplan. Certification for products is planned to open October 1st.
The G3-PLC Alliance has appointed two member companies to run the certifications tests, LAN and TÃœV Rheinland: LAN is a French based company located in Tauxigny, France. LAN will perform the certification tests in their facilities located in Europe (Tauxigny, France). TÃœV Rheinland is a German company with worldwide offices. TUV Rheinland will perform the certification tests in their facilities in Asia (Yokohama, Japan).
Marc Boillot, Chairman of the G3-PLC Alliance: "After the interim certification set up in March 2014, the Official and Worldwide certification will now support the G3-PLCâ„¢ market, and will secure the tenders launched by the utilities. Certification will guarantee the correct implementation of the G3-PLC specifications, the performance and the interoperability of the products.â€
The certification process is available for all current and future members of the G3-PLC Alliance. Certification covers chipsets and a wide range of G3-PLC products including Meters, Data Concentrators and Home Energy Management Systems manufactured by the members of the G3-PLC Alliance.
G3-PLC is a protocol for Narrow Band Low frequency Power Line communications. G3-PLC facilitates high-speed, highly-reliable, long-range communication over the existing powerline grid. With the ability to cross transformers, infrastructure costs are reduced and with its support of IPv6, G3-PLC will support powerline communications into the future.
