William Hewlett, Co-Founder of Hewlett-Packard, Passes Away

William Hewlett, co-founder of Hewlett-Packard Co. (Palo Alto, CA), died in his sleep on the morning of January 12, 2001 at the age of 87. He and David Hewlett, who died in 1996, founded their company in 1939 in a one-car garage with $538. The company now achieves nearly $50 billion in annual sales, and has spun off an $11 billion testing equipment firm, Agilent Technologies Inc.
