April 28, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

The WestCor Division of Vicor Corp. (Andover, MA) unveiled the FlatPAC-EN ac/dc switching power supply, which measures 233.7mm x 127mm x 35.6mm and provides up to 500W of output power from one to four isolated outputs. The device complies with the EN 61000-3-2 standard and exhibits a power density >7.8W/in³. For full EN compliance, the FlatPAC-EN can provide up to 425W. It can be configured with any of Vicor's 300Vdc input dc/dc converters in full-brick, half-brick or quarter-brick sizes.

The device accepts inputs of 90Vac to 132Vac and 180Vac to 264Vac at 47Hz to 63Hz, and uses a microprocessor-controlled, auto-ranging function. It also features a passive harmonic current attenuation to reduce EMU and simplify noise filtering. The FlatPAC-EN meets the conducted EMI requirements of FCC Class A and B, and EN 55022 Class A. It also meets EN 55022 Class B with an optional AC in-line connector.
