August 13, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Watts Unlimited announced the appointment of the company Founder and current President Jean-Michel Picard to the role of Chairman and Murray PJB Simser to the role of Chief Executive Officer. As Chairman, Mr. Picard will be responsible for overall corporate governance including strategic direction, key customers and partnerships, and the corporate development of Watts. Mr. Simser will take over management of all aspects of the company and lead a strategic growth plan that will include opening new markets, diversification of product lines, and growth capitalization.

"As an entrepreneurial company Watts has been very successful, but because of rapidly increasing demand in the cloud and data center spaces we grew faster than expected. In fact the industry is expected to double in size over the next ten years. By reinvesting heavily in our growth, including adding to our leadership structure and opening new markets, we intend to position Watts to take advantage of these market conditions." said Jean-Michel Picard, Founder and Chairman of Watts. He added, "The addition of Mr. Simser, a prominent Wall Street and Silicon Valley growth-focused CEO, enables us to consolidate and confidently grow our market position".

In governance roles Mr. Simser has served on public, private, and not-for-profit Boards of Directors. As CEO he has led publicly-traded and private companies. As an executive he has led the sales and commercialization efforts of many well-known technologies at Microsoft and Silicon Valley startups. As an entrepreneur he has founded notable Internet companies. To develop corporations he has raised over $100 million and led several complex public and private M&A deals.

"I am delighted to be taking the role of CEO at Watts. Watts is already a substantial corporation with plenty of notable assets. Its client base, partners, and capabilities form the core of the strategic growth plan we intend to execute." said Murray Simser, Chief Executive Officer of Watts. He added, "Watts' client list includes some of the world's most important brands, corporations and G7 governments. Watts also has long-standing productive partnerships with important Global companies. For instance GE Critical Power."

GE Critical Power provides a vast array of products and services in the ac and dc mission critical power space. "Because of their market credibility and global reach, GE Energy Management, the parent of GE Critical Power, awarded Watts Partner of the Year. The addition of Mr. Simser to the leadership team enhances Watts' core strengths and provides a clear roadmap. He brings a wealth of expertise in high-growth companies and a proven ability to execute, both crucial in the mission critical market. We are very pleased with the addition of Mr Simser and the underlying plan." said Patrick Gannon, GE Critical Power.
