Voltwerk to Build German Solar Power Plant

September 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

The German renewable energy firm, Voltwerk AG, will start building the country's largest solar power plant in the Bavarian area of Soechtenau this month.

The first stage, a 600kW photovoltaic unit, will link to the Isar-Amperwerke power grid in Germany. The location is ideal for an efficient community solar plant, according to Martin Bucher of Voltwerk. It will meet the needs of one-quarter of Soechtenau's 2,500 homes.
