Vishay Intertechnology Releases New Si9121DY Buck/Boost Converter ICs

April 23, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) has released its new non-isolated buck/boost converter IC, the Vishay Siliconix Si9121DY. The Si9121DY gives designers a simple and compact way to convert a -48V input to +3.3V or +5V in ISDN digital phones. In addition to digital phones, the Si9121DY will be used to regulate ISDN power supplies for dc-to-dc converter modules, PBX systems, SLIC circuits and modems.

The Si9121DY features an integrated high-voltage start-up circuit, 95KHz oscillator, and a 70V n-channel depletion MOSFET that simplifies converter designs and reduces the external parts count. The Si9121DY provides a built-in hiccup-mode timer that allows the device to handle a continuous output short-circuit, and to automatically restart when the short-circuit is removed.

Samples and production quantities are available in 100,000-piece quantities at $1.55. Lead time is 10 weeks for larger orders.
