Vishay Intertechnology Introduces Four New TrenchFETs

April 09, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Four new MOSFETs in TO-220 and D2PAK packages have been targeted at automotive applications by Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA). The new Vishay Siliconix TrenchFETs are expected to find use in motor-control and replacement applications in autos where their low on-resistance will allow designers to reduce the use of heatsinks and to replace power MOSFETs in larger packages such as the TO-247.

The new TrenchFETs, which include both N- and P-channel devices, feature 3.5 milliohms on-resistance for the 40V N-channel device and 8 milliohms for the 55V P-channel part. According to Vishay Siliconix, the on-resistance for the N-channel devices is 13 percent lower than the closest competing device, while the new P-channel part provides 60 percent lower on-resistance than the nearest competitor.

The new TrenchFETs include two 85A N-channel devices and two 75A P-channel devices. Samples are available now. Pricing for US delivery in lots of 10,000 pieces is $2.73 for the P-channel devices and $2.49 for the N-channel devices.
