Vishay Intertechnology Acquires Spectrol Electronics

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced that it has acquired the business of Spectrol Electronics Corp. (Ontario, CA). Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition will be immediately accretive. Vishay would not comment on whether it is adding Spectrol facilities in California or the United Kingdom, or employees through the acquisition from Spectrol's parent company. "With this acquisition, we are gaining new technology with transducer-type potentiometers, which will complement our SFERnice divisions transducer product line enabling them to penetrate more quickly into the automotive market," said Felix Zandman, Vishay chairman and CEO. "In addition, the trimmer potentiometer will enable the company to gain a larger market share of the markets they serve. We believe that the strength of our worldwide marketing and sales force will result in a very successful integration of these products into the market place."
