Vishay Announces Thermally Enhanced Little Foot SC-70 MOSFETs

June 27, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Siliconix Inc. (Santa Clara, CA), a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology (Malvern, PA), announced that it is now shipping a new series of Little Foot SC-70 power MOSFETs for which thermal resistance has been reduced to 35 degrees C per W for single-channel devices and 80 degrees C per W for dual-channel devices. This lower thermal resistance increases power dissipation to a maximum of 1W in the single channel SC-70 package.

The new Little Foot SC-70 devices measure 2.0mm x 2.1mm x 1.0mm and are suitable for use in small- to medium-load switching, power-amplifier switching, and level shifting in cellular phones, pagers, PDAs and other hand-held devices.

Eight devices in the enhanced Little Foot SC-70 Series have released, including single, dual and complementary n-channel and p-channel versions with breakdown voltages of 12V, 20V and 25V. On-resistance at a +/-4.5V gate drive ranges from 70mohms for the single n-channel Si1410EDH to 490mohms for the dual p-channel Si1913EDH. All eight devices are rated for operating at 1.8V for low supply voltages as well as at 4.5V and 2.5V. Maximum current handling ranges from 3.7A for the Si1410EDH to -1A for the Si1913EDH.

Samples and production quantities of the new thermally enhanced Little Foot SC-70 devices are currently available, with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders.
