Vicor Introduces New Web-Based DC-DC Converter Design System

May 15, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Vicor Corp. (Andover, MA) introduced the new automated web-based dc/dc converter design system, which provides online access for component power mass customization. The Vicor Design Assistance Computer (VDAC) is designed to enable customers to specify the performance and attributes of custom second-generation dc/dc converters.

The system accepts user-defined converter specifications and generates an optimal design. VDAC frees power specifiers from having to compromise between standard products, which only partially meet their needs, and custom-engineered products, with their long cycle times and performance uncertainties.

VDAC is available to the user over the Internet. Senior Director of Product Marketing Andrew Hilbert stated, "This expert system will ultimately make mass customization of high-performance power components an essential resource for every power architect."
