Vestas Receives Large Italian Wind Turbine Order

Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Ringkøbing, Denmark) has received an order for 134 units of the V52 850kW wind turbine with an option for 35 additional V52 850kW and V47 660kW turbines via its Italian subsidiary, Italian Wind Technology S.r.l. The order was placed by The Enel Group through its 100-percent-owned subsidiary Enel Green Power and is valued at up to mEUR 89. The turbines will be delivered over the next two years and will be placed in nine new wind farms located in Sicily, Sardinia, Basilicata and Molise, with an expected production of approximately 300,000,000kWh per year.

"We are very pleased to be selected as the supplier to such a professional wind turbine developer and operator," stated Svend Sigaard, managing director of Vestas Wind Systems A/S. "The order was won in competition with Danish, Spanish, Japanese and German suppliers by our local Taranto-based company, and underline the competitiveness of our new V52 turbine."
