Varta Microbattery Offers Varta PoLiFlex Battery

December 10, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Varta Microbattery GmbH (Ellwangen, Germany) launched its new Varta PoLiFlex rechargeable batteries, which are suitable for palmtops or organizers, satellite-assisted navigation systems, multi-media phones, mobile data capture and ticket sales systems, communications and electronic payment systems, small solar devices, and as vital backup systems for computers.

The slimline and ultra-light batteries can be shaped to suit any device. They contain no heavy metals and no free, liquid electrolytes. The production technology used by Varta involves laying the electrodes on top of each other and thermo-bonding them. As a result, the batteries are extremely flexible in terms of size and performance. The Varta PoLiFlex is currently available in two sizes. The 650mAh model measures 3.8mm x 35mm x 62mm, and the 780mAh model measures 4.2mm x 35mm x 66mm and includes the electronic safety module.
