US WindForce LLC (Wexford, PA) and Padoma Wind Power LLC (La Jolla, CA) announced the formation of a joint venture for the purpose of developing, constructing, financing and selling as many as 1,500MW of wind energy projects, involving 10 or more project locations, over the next five years in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US.
The projects will be located on a number of large sites with wind resources in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and will deliver power to a region characterized by a large and growing demand for energy, a strong transmission system with excess capacity and a rapidly increasing environmental awareness. It is expected that as many as 340MW of the 1,500MW could be operational by the end of 2003, making this the largest combined project development process in the eastern US.
