Unipower Telecom Introduces Mercury RMF Series of Hot-Swap Rectifiers

August 13, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Unipower Telecom (Coral Springs, FL) has introduced its new Mercury RMF Series of hot-swap rectifiers, which provides up to 60A at 27.2Vdc or 30A at 54.4Vdc from one mounting position (1.72") 23" shelf. The 23" shelf holds up to four hot-swappable rectifier modules, each producing up to 15A at 27.2Vdc or 7.5A at 54.4Vdc. A 19" shelf holds up to three rectifiers, producing up to 45A at 27.2Vdc or up to 22.5A at 54.4Vdc.

Each module has an output o-ring diode for hot-swap replacement and is self-cooled by two fans. The rectifier modules also have wide-range output voltages of 22Vdc to 29Vdc or 44Vdc to 58Vdc, which is adjustable by means of a front panel potentiometer. Power density is 4.1W per cubic inch, and efficiency is 86 percent. The modules have a universal input range of 85Vac to 265Vac with input PFC, which results in less than a five percent total harmonic distortion of the input current. A Class B EMI input filter is standard.

These rectifiers are designed for a wide range of applications in telecommunications. Other features of the Mercury RMF Series include hot-swap connectors, over-voltage and over-temperature protection, remote sensing, and dc-good LED indicators. Interface control and monitoring signals include ac power-fail, dc power-good, remote-output adjust and inhibit. The modules have single-wire, active load sharing to equalize output currents. Two or more rectifier shelves can be operated in parallel for increased output current.

The Mercury RMF Series rectifier modules are priced at $417 each. Pricing is $413 for the three-position, 1U shelf, and $455 for the four-position, 1U shelf.
