UNIPOWER Telecom Introduces Gravitas Ranger 400 Series Power Systems

July 31, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

UNIPOWER Telecom (Coral Springs, FL) has introduced its new Gravitas Ranger 400 computer-telephony integrated power system. The system comes in several versions, all of which are expandable. It is housed in a standard 7ft free-standing cabinet.

The Gravitas Ranger 400 has a maximum output capacity of 400A at 48Vdc or 800A at 24Vdc. It incorporates up to eight high-density, hot-swap rectifier modules; each module produces 50A at 54.4Vdc or 100A at 27.2Vdc. They operate from a 170Vac to 240Vac single or three-phase power source at 45Hz to 65Hz. At slightly less output current, 350A at 54.4V or 700A at 27.2V, the system can be operated with n+1 redundancy.

The complete system consists of two rectifier shelves with up to eight rectifier modules, up to six battery trays, optional ac breakers for each rectifier module, a control and monitoring system, a low-voltage disconnect, and a dc circuit-breaker distribution panel with up to 20 breakers.

The battery bank has the capacity to operate a 350A power system for up to two hours after a loss of ac power. Each battery tray also incorporates a battery-isolation switch to allow easy battery maintenance without compromising system integrity.

The Gravitas Ranger 400 Battery Plant System can be expanded to up to three cabinets producing 1,050A of 48Vdc, using a single controller. Pricing starts at approximately $24,950 each, in single quantities, including batteries. Prices vary depending on ultimate system configuration. Delivery is eight weeks ARO.
