UNIPOWER Intros TPCMQ24 Series DC Converters

June 16, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

UNIPOWER Telecom, a division of UNIPOWER Corp. (Coral Springs, FL), introduced its new TPCMQ24 Series dc-dc bus converters that convert 24 Vdc to either 48 Vdc or 54.4 Vdc for telecom applications, including wireless communications and transmission equipment where a 24 V bus or battery output must be converted to 48 V.

The converters are 1U high and are rack-mounted in a hot-swap, 19 in shelf that can accept up to three converters for 3,000 W of total power. The output from the shelf is 62.4 A at 48 V or 55.2 A at 54.4 V. Output current is 20.8 A at 48 V or 18.4 A at 54.4 V, giving 1,000 W of total power. The converters operate from a wide range 20 Vdc to 30 Vdc (24 V nominal) input with an efficiency of 89%, and power density of 12.5 W/in³.

The TPCMQ24 dc-dc converters and shelves must be ordered separately. The converter modules are priced at $465 each, and the three-unit shelf is priced at $387, both in medium volumes. Delivery is stock to four weeks ARO.
