Unipower Corp. (Coral Springs, FL) offers a new front-end power system that is 1U high (1.75") and provides up to 1200W non-redundant or 800W 2+1 redundant at 24, 28 or 48Vdc for distributed power applications. The three hot-swap modules are the TMF5000, TMF6000 and TMF7000. Each module has a 400W output and a standard 1U, 19-inch mating rack which holds up to three modules. The compact modules measure 1.66" x 5" x 11.95", providing a power density of 4W per cubic inch. They incorporate high-reliability connectors and are cooled by two small dc ball-bearing fans. A locking latch holds the modules in the rack, which features an easy-connect backplane. Other module features include input power factor correction, which meets EN61000-3-2; a universal input range of 85-264Vac; Class B input EMI filter; integral isolation diodes; single-wire current sharing between modules; and a 5Vdc at 100mA independent supervisory output. The output voltage has a +/-5 percent adjustment range and total output regulation is +/-2 percent maximum. Control and supervisory functions include ac power fail and dc power good output signals and remote inhibit input. Each module also has a front-panel green LED dc power good indicator and an optional on/off switch. The hot-swap front-end modules are priced as low as $200 each and the mating 19-inch rack as low as $335 each, in OEM quantities.
