Ultra-Low ON Resistance Load Switch ICs feature Thermal Shutdown

July 14, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) today announced two new ultra-low ON resistance load switch ICs, the TCK111G and TCK112G, for power management in portable/mobile devices, such as smart phones, that require high-density board assembly. The new load switch ICs offer reverse current blocking and a thermal shutdown function. In addition, they feature ultra-low switch ON resistance, low quiescent current and a wide input voltage operation from 1.1 V to 5.5 V. Switch ON resistance is only 8.3 mΩ at 5.0 V and -1.5 A for load conditions.

The TCK111G and TCK112G also feature an inrush current suppressing slew rate control driver and output auto-discharge function (offered as an option on the TCK112G). Available in a 0.5 mm pitch ultra-small package WCSP6C (1.0 mm x 1.5 mm, t: 0.5 mm (typ.)) the new devices from Toshiba are well-suited to smart phones but are also targeted to tablet PCs, portable audio players, digital cameras, camcorders, games and other small mobile devices.

Features include: Low ON resistance (RON = 8.3 mΩ (typ.) at VIN = 5.0 V, -1.5 A; RON = 8.4 mΩ (typ.) at VIN = 3.3 V, -1.5 A; RON = 8.4 mΩ (typ.) at VIN = 1.8 V, -1.5 A; and RON = 8.5 mΩ (typ.) at VIN = 1.1 V, -1.5 A); Wide input voltage operation: VIN = 1.1 to 5.5 V; Reverse current blocking; Inrush current reducing circuit; Thermal shutdown function; Built in auto-discharge (TCK112G); and Pull down connection between CONTROL and GND. Toshiba's new ultra-low ON resistance load switch ICs are available now. Budgetary pricing is $0.20.
