Tyco Electronics Announces BBR550 and BBR750 Coated Polyswitch Resettable Fuses

April 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Corp. (Menlo Park, CA) announced a new, coated version of its 90V radial-leaded PolySwitch resettable fuses, the BBR550 and BBR750 devices. These devices are designed to facilitate the provisioning of cable telephony and protect against potentially damaging power faults to cable power passing tap ports and set-top boxes. In addition, they help limit current in the event of power cross faults on the coaxial cable. The BBR550 and BBR750 are available with rated hold currents of 550mA and 750mA, respectively.

“The decision to coat these devices was made in response to customer requests for insulated devices for use in large cable electronic boxes, and a growing market demand for higher hold currents," said Lisa Leo, telecommunications market manager for Tyco's Raychem Circuit Protection division.

The BBR550 and BBR750 devices are available in straight-lead or kinked-lead configuration, and are supplied in tape-and-reel packaging. Both devices are currently available, with delivery in six to eight weeks ARO.
