Transistor Devices Intros New Outdoor DC Power Plant

August 24, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Transistor Devices Inc. (TDI, Hackettstown, NJ) introduced a new environmentally sealed, dc power plant that provides outside plant power, dc distribution, battery backup, and remote monitoring and alarm capabilities in a front access, weather-resistant, enclosure for remote-site telecommunications applications. The dc power plant is suitable for cellular/PCS, fiber-to-the-curb, broadband networks, wireless local loop, and other medium- to low-amperage outdoor telecommunications site applications.

The weather-sealed, outdoor power systems are designed to deliver up to 1,000 W of 24 Vdc or 48 Vdc power with up four hours of battery backup if the power line fails. The dc power plant utilizes TDI's hinged-cabinet design to separate the NEMA 3R battery cabinet from the NEMA 4X electronics cabinet. The separation of the battery cabinet from the rectifier cabinet keeps both internal cabinet temperatures within a safe operating range during the most extreme, external environmental conditions. The outdoor enclosure is engineered to be mounted virtually anywhere. Options are available for pad, wall and pole mounting.

Standard pricing starts at $1,995 for 100-piece quantities, including batteries and rectifier modules.
