Ericsson (Sweden) recently announced the BZAU 240 02 and the BZAU 480 01. These are two new power shelves that supply +24Vdc and -48Vdc, respectively. These compact systems were designed for powering radio equipment as well as Internet and PCS applications. They have also been targeted for use in telecom hotels. Both units contain a complete power system in one space-efficient shelf featuring front access plug-in modules, battery disconnect circuit breakers and centralized alarm and control units. Rectifier modules can be added to the shelves without service interruption, enabling the system's growth without additional wiring. The BZAU 240 02 and BZAU 480 01 can be equipped with up to four power modules with a rating of 900W each. The BZAU 240 02 dc distribution module provides load protection for five 30A (max) circuit breakers and input protection for one string of standby batteries. The BZAU 480 01 dc distribution module provides load protection for 15 1-10A load circuits or five 30A (max) circuit breakers plus input protection for two strings of standby batteries. Both systems offer advanced power system features such as temperature-compensated charging, built-in equalize charge timer and battery low-voltage disconnect circuits. The shelves also feature built-in load distribution and protection points, as well as provisions for feeding external distribution panels.
