Developments on the Photovoltaic Inverter Front
Page 2
In June, Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. introduced its stainless steel PV Powered commercial PV inverter line and announced that it has been selected to power a 787-kilowatt project at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) in Kekaha, Hawaii. The project was awarded to Advanced Energy (AE) by Maui Solar Energy Systems, a solar integrator, who will construct the project.
In tropical, marine environments like Hawaii, that generate sea-salt moisture that can damage sensitive electronics systems, AE’s stainless steel inverters are ideal to accommodate a 20+ year project life, without added maintenance. The new stainless steel option is the perfect complement to a product that already sets the industry standard for high reliability, ease of installation and lifetime maintainability. The PV Powered stainless steel inverter offers a wide range of inverter sizes, including 50, 75, 100 and 260kW, allowing optimal design flexibility.
In July, KACO new energy Inc., which describes itself as one of the world’s largest solar inverter manufacturers with over 3 GW of PV inverters in the field to date, announced its U.S. manufacturing partnership with Sanmina-SCI Corporation.
KACO chose Sanmina-SCI to provide end-to-end manufacturing services for its blueplanet™ 02xi inverter series in order to solidify and further develop the company’s position in the U.S. market, with more competitive costs and reduced delivery times. KACO’s first complete line of blueplanet inverters with "made in the United States" nameplates rolled out of Sanmina-SCI’s San Jose, California, facility in spring of 2011.
KACO states that its new energy inverters are one of the best-selling inverters worldwide with more than 3 GW operating today. The popular blueplanet 02xi series 95.5% CEC efficiency ensures maximum kWh production. A wide MPPT range offers high string sizing flexibility with all modules and temperature ranges. The inverters are designed for maximum ROI with robust state-of-the-art IGBTs and advanced MPPT algorithms. The easyINSTALL T-bracket minimizes mounting process to approximately 15 minutes.
Houston-based American Electric Technologies, Inc., a global provider of power delivery solutions for the traditional and renewable energy industries, received notification from TUV Rheinland that its 1MW 1000V Integrated Solar Inversion Station (ISIS™) had successfully passed the solar inverter tests as outlined in UL 1741-2010. UL1741-2010 is the UL Standard for Solar Inverter equipment and other solar products for use with Distributed Energy resources.
