Delta Introduces Wide Input Quarter Brick Module into Its Board Mounted DC-DC Power Converters

Power Channels: Power Components

Delta Electronics, Inc. has introduced the newest additions to its board mounted dc-dc power converters – the Q36SR, a wide input range (18V to 75V) quarter brick power converter with a footprint and pin out that follows the DOSA industry standard (2.30 x 1.45 x 0.46").

The Q36SR isolated dc-dc converter provides up to 228W (12V output voltage and 19A output current) of output power. This unit operates from a wide input voltage range of 18V to 75V and is also available in 17A output current version. With optimized component placement and innovative design topologies created by Delta’s World Wide Engineering Teams, the Q36SR converter delivers outstanding electrical and thermal performance. The Q36SR possesses industry leading efficiencies which translate into more board space at less cost for our customers’ space constrained and cost-sensitive applications. Typical efficiency of the module at 12V/19A is greater than 93%.

The Q36SR converter comes complete with a host of industry-standard features that insure reliable performance in the harshest environments. Q36SR modules also offer monotonic start-up into normal or pre-biased loads. An optional heatsink is available for more extreme thermal requirements.

Standard lead-time for this product is directly from stock or up to 8 weeks, depending on output and volume.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure

Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
