Alpha Technologies Receives TL 9000 Certification
Alpha Technologies Ltd. (ATL), a specialist in the design, manufacture, service and installation of powering solutions for the Telecom, CATV, Traffic, Security, Industrial and Renewable Energy industries, has had its Quality Management System approved for certification to TL 9000.
TL 9000, an extension of ISO: 9001, is designed to validate a quality management system governing the design, development, production, delivery, installation and maintenance of products and services for telecommunications. Created and continually improved by the QuEST Forum (a global communications association comprising of the world’s top industry service providers and suppliers, dedicated to continually improving standards in the telecommunications industry), it has become a globally accepted quality standard, with almost 2,000 supplier locations registered worldwide (approximately 34% in the Americas region, 59% Asia Pacific and 7% EMEA - Europe, Middle East & Africa).
Enterprises that have supplier relationships with TL 9000 certified suppliers can expect consistent and validated quality across all products, services and customer care, resulting in significant cost and time savings through avoidance of on-site inspections and quality audits. Performance data of all registered companies is benchmarked against one another so that all suppliers have incentive to continually push to achieve ’best in class’ results.
"We are very excited to achieve this exclusive quality designation. TL 9000 assures our customers that Alpha’s Quality Management System has been systematically audited, and passed by an independent TL 9000 certification body, that being SAI-Global Canada," remarked Andrea MacIntosh, Director of Quality at Alpha.
"Through our ongoing commitment to excellence, continuous improvement and rigorous application of TL 9000, we expect to advance our quality and overall service levels," noted John Kalbfleisch, Chief Operating Officer of ATL. "A key to Alpha’s success is our relentless focus on exceeding customer expectations for product and service quality. Accomplishing TL 9000 Certification demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customers’ supply chain needs at every stage of the product and service lifecycle."

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules
Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure
Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
