Midtronics Licenses inGEN® Technology to Lear

Midtronics, Inc. and Lear Corp., Lear Automotive (EEDS) Spain, S.L. have signed a license agreement that will integrate Midtronics’ patented inGEN(R) technology into Lear’s newly announced Battery Monitoring System (BMS) product. The license agreement applies to all European automobile brands.

Midtronics describes inGEN technology as a technically superior embedded battery monitoring system that helps manage electrical storage power and support the high demands of electrical applications in today’s new vehicles. inGEN technology helps prolong battery life, predicts the battery’s ability to support an application, warns of pending failures, and improves fuel economy.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.
