STMicroelectronics Intros TS7211 Comparator

November 25, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

STMicroelectronics Inc. (Geneva, Switzerland) introduced its new comparator, the TS7211, featuring micropower consumption, rail-to-rail inputs, and a push-pull output. The TS7211 comes in a space-saving SOT23-5L package and is pin compatible with leading competitive devices. The TS7211 is suitable for battery-powered systems, such as notebook computers and personal digital assistants; PCMCIA cards; cellular and mobile communications handsets; and alarms and security systems.

Key specifications for the TS7211 include a 6µA typical current consumption and 500ns response time (both at Vcc=5V) to yield a high speed-to-power ratio. In addition, the TS7211 features rail-to-rail inputs and a push-pull output, and is specified for operation at 2.7V, 5V and 10V. ESD protection extends to 2kV and 200V.

The TS2711 comparator operates over a -40 to +85 degrees C temperature and is available now in production quantities. It is priced at $0.38 in 1,000-unit volumes.
